Skiing in the Dolomites and especially Ski Cortina is an intense and exciting experience, there are trails for all of all degrees of difficulty. What most impresses the skier, however, is the environment, space and colour in which it plunged down the slopes of mountains as unique as the Dolomites.

Ski Cortina means choosing between 37 lifts, 5 cableway, 26 chair lifts and 6 ski lifts for a total elevation gain of 1.715 meters and are always well-beaten paths and snowy. The countless ski runs are divided into Blue, or easy, and are about half the total, red traces of medium difficulty, about 35 percent and, finally, black, for the bravest, that are only about 15 percent of the total.

Ski Cortina area is large and spectacular, includes, besides the same Cortina d'Ampezzo, also San Vito di Cadore, Misurina and Auronzo di Cadore. The whole area has 70 trails and 115 kilometres of tracks.

Going back to Cortina d'Ampezzo, we find the greatest variety of slopes to choose. The area extends over several ski areas: Faloria-Cristallo-Mietres; Tofana and Lagazuoi-Cinque Torri. The zones start from 1.224 meters of the valley bottom to the top of Staunies on Mount Cristallo, 2.939 meters of altitude.

The area of Faloria offers 30 kilometres of trails and has a modern and fast cableway. Inaugurated in 1939, now allows the cableway to reach the top of the mount Faloria, at an altitude of 2.134 meters, starting from the town of Cortina with an intermediate station at an altitude of 1.500 meters. Overall, the cableway covers 900 meters in altitude and in a very short time.

Not far away, always rising from Falzarego pass, there is Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri area. Someone says that in the Cinque Torri area skiing is better than in other areas, because of the fact that the slopes of medium difficulty or easy, are exposed to the north and the snow keeps a friability constant throughout the day. A single runway facing south, from fork Nuvolau down towards the Giau pass. Here too the ski bus offers a great service.

Almost opposite there is the ski resort of Tofana. the cableway Freccia nel Cielo (Arrow of Heaven) takes skiers to Ra Valles at high altitudes. Here are 3 chairlifts carry skiers to the choice of several trails of medium difficulty, all facing east. Here the height of the slopes range from 2.200 to 2.850 meters and is possible to ski when the ski season is already over in other places. Through the Forcella Rossa (Red Fork), a black run, this area is connected to the Tofana where the paths are more challenging, however, sometimes covered by the shadow of the peaks but the altitude is lower than previously. The red and black slopes have legendary names like Olimpia, Vertigine Bianca (white dizziness) or Canalone (canyon slopes) where international races are held regularly. Lower there is Socrepes. At the feet of Tofana of the slopes are easy, there are various ski schools for children and the sun is the host. You can arrive here, going towards the Falzarego pass, even with a convenient ski bus.

Ski Cortina is not only Nordic Ski

The resort naturally offers a wide range of services to skiers and families, from Scuola Sci Cortina (Cortina Ski School) rental and repair equipment and much more.

Ski Cortina is also cross country skiing. It’s practiced in the equipped Fiammes Cross-Country Ski Center on tracks with different difficulties. The ex-runway airport is dedicated to the less experienced, more difficult track 3G with 4 rings with different characteristics. Famous is the cross country race Cortina-Dobbiaco that takes place on 30 kilometres of the former railroad, summer becomes a bike path. The track of the Passo Tre Croci (Three Cross Pass) is a very technical track of great difficulty. As you can see protagonist in Ski Cortina is not only the amusement but the environment as well!
