The town of Arabba, located between the Pordoi Pass and Campolongo, is the reference point for this ski resort, right in the town center there is a Snow Kindergarten for children next to the ski school. The area preferred by skiers is Portavescovo, at 2.600 meters on the sea level and accessible by cable car, from here you can also access to the Marmolada. Arabba Dolomiti paths are divided into 33 easy and suitable-for-all, 23 medium difficulty and 4 black runs. From here you can leave for the ski tour of the Great War which explores scenarios showing trenches war, cannon and other artifacts of the conflict, as the same from here you can also have access to great ski carousel of Sellaronda.
The area of the Marmolada is one of the most exciting area of this ski area. You can ski on the glacier of the highest mountain in the Dolomites, 3.342 meters. Here were installed the first ski lift in Italy, at the beginning a chairlift from Fedaia to Pian dei Fiacconi, then a ski lift. Today is reached by cable car starting at an altitude of 1.467 metres of Malga Ciapela up to 3.300 metres of Punta Rocca.
On Marmolada you can ski on large slope, and on the track called "Bellunese", you can ski for many kilometres, 12 in this case. The Bellunese gathers itself 5 separate tracks of medium difficulty, it moves down the glacier to reach the Passo Fedaia then down again. For those unwilling to climb so high there is the possibility of reaching up to Passo Padon, about 2.200 meters, and get back to Arabba. Then it must be said that until a few years ago it was possible to go skiing on the Marmolada in summer. The weather conditions today do not allow it anymore but still remains the opportunity to stretch the ski season.
You can practice the cross-country skiing in the district Arabba Marmolada on three separate rings at Malga Ciapela. The easier track is that called Marmotte, it is two kilometres and a half long and when necessary is also snow artificially. Medium difficulty is the track called "Aquile" 5 kilometres long. The most challenging of all is the "Pista dell’Orso" of 7 kilometres. Near Malga Ciapela there is also the only snow park of the area.
